While You’re Away aims to lower the possibility of catastrophic damage to your unoccupied home.

When you partner with While You’re Away Home Watch, you can expect to limit your exposure and mitigate the risks associated with your vacant home. We offer professional service and personal care for your home, whether you head south for the winter or “up north” for the season or school year.  Potentially problematic issues maybe identified before they develop into more significant and costly repairs. You will be notified, and a plan of action will be discussed and implemented.

Visits are random and never on a schedule that can be tracked. This gives the home the appearance of being occupied and visited often. Having live eyes on a property can do what a camera cannot. Part of our service is to detect intrusion and alert authorities.  If intrusions are left undetected, it could lead to legal squatting. Regular absentee home watch service may also be beneficial and may even be required by your insurance carrier.

While You’re Away Home Watch is accredited by the NHWA, bonded, and insured.

INTERIOR

• Check for leaks under all sinks, toilets, refrigerators, and water heaters.
• Check for water damage around windows and ceilings.
• Check for signs of mold and mildew.
• Check fire, smoke, and CO2 alarms, and if needed, replace batteries. (Extra fee for batteries)
• Check circuit breakers.
• Check for visible signs of insect or rodent infestation.
• Check for apparent damage to the interior of the house.
• Confirm that the security system is functioning.
• Check temperature and humidity settings on thermostats.
• Run water in sinks and baths, flush stagnant water in toilets, and check all drains.
• Replace burned-out light bulbs. (Extra fee for replacement bulbs)
• Check doors, windows, lights, fans.
• Check air filters. (Extra fee for replacement filters)
• If applicable, activate at least two light timers and reset during power interruptions.

Additional Services

Key Holder Services

• Coordinate property access for repair services, contractors, and decorators. On-site supervision is available upon request.
• Coordinate a key exchange for visitors or renters
• Sign, receive, and bring inside any packages and shipments.
• Mail and package forwarding are available upon request.

Storm Services

Pre-Storm

• Test the whole house power generator, if applicable.
• Secure outdoor furniture, trash bins, etc.
• Test sump pump, if applicable
• Close storm shutters

Post-Storm

• Assess and report any damages
• Arrange water remediation service.
• Provide a list and photos of all damaged items for the insurance company.
• Provide recommendations for reputable contractors
• Schedule repairs

Concierge Services

• Prepare for your arrival
• Close up upon departure
• Grocery shop
• Make reservations
• Monitor in-home deliveries
• Contractor liaison

Reporting

As a While You’re Away Client, you will receive nearly real-time reports with photographs and recommendations on your home’s status via text, email, or both if you choose. While You’re Away uses GPS locating software to record and report everything we do and how long we spend on your property. You can trust our professional and reliable service. You will have undeniable proof that your home was visited in case of any insurance claim or other issues.

We use a contact written for While You’re Away, designed to protect you and us from unnecessary legal issues. You will be clear on what we do, and do not do. We will be happy to review the contract with you when we meet.
